Charles Wayne "Charlie" Gardner, 61, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 402 N. Main Street, Fuquay-Varina.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 27, prior to the memorial service, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall and other times at the home, 205 E. Spring Street, Fuquay-Varina.

Charlie was my date for the junior-senior prom our junior year. My family had just moved to Raleigh that January and I didn't know many people. I was so happy when he asked me to go. A very kind thing for him to do for the newcomer.

Charlie lived up street at Marlborough Road. We use to sit on his front porch ( it was in the shade) and hit grasshoppers over the head till bout dead. Then we would put them on a cotton ball ( that was their hospital bed) and try to resurrect them. We were practicing being doctors but about 99.99% of those grasshoppers sacrificed their lives for no purpose whatsoever other than making our mornings!! :)
